Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 28 December 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 28 December 2018:

  • QLD Weekly average spot price and demand were $56.19/ MWh and 5,943 MW respectively. The average weekly spot price was $36.08/MWh below the previous week and demand was 975 MW (16.4%) lower.
  • NSW weekly average spot price and demand were $69.87/ MWh and 7,422 MW respectively. The average weekly spot price was $29.76/MWh below the previous week and demand was 726 MW (9.7%) lower.
  • Snowy Hydro water levels are currently sitting at 27.8% which is 18.6% below levels at this time in the previous year.
  • VIC weekly average spot price and demand were $79.16/ MWh and 4,536 MW respectively. The weekly average spot price was $14.64/MWh below the week prior despite no material change in average demand.
