Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 19 April 2019

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 19 April 2019:

  • AEMO released a report titled “Technical Integration of Distributed Energy Resources, improving DER capabilities to benefit consumers and the power system”. AEMO has commenced a program of work designed to operate in partnership with a range of parties to facilitate smooth and effective integration of DER.
  • DER is a term used to describe small-scale generation and storage capacity.
  • Aggregation of DER will be a very useful tool in the future, and is often referred to as “virtual power plants” which have been trialled in different parts of the NEM.
  • LGC prices pushed up last week, however, trading of certificates were thin.
