Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 02 November 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 2 November 2018:

  • Spot prices were high last week and energy futures increased across the board
  • Generation is scheduled to return throughout November in QLD, NSW and VIC, which should help provide some relief in spot prices. Working against returning generation, however, will be increasingly higher demand and the potential for further shortages in wind generation.
  • Snowy Hydro continues to conserve water.
  • LGC prices continued their volatile run with prices jumping around throughout the week trading in relatively small volumes (5,000 certificate parcels).
  • NSW Government launched its emerging energy program.
