Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 19 October 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 19 October 2018:

  • Spot prices in QLD, NSW and VIC were higher last week, largely driven by outages at baseload power stations in NSW and VIC, and less generation from Snowy Hydro.
  • LGC prices came off late last week across the forward curve.
  • Snowy Hydro water levels continue to improve reaching 23.4%. The generator continues to restrict generation in the interest of building water reserve levels.
  • Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the SA Government which would deliver a $100m finance package to support the Home Battery Scheme.
