Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 25 May 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 25 May 2018:

  • Spot prices were higher in all NEM regions with SA recording the highest average price of $105.18/MWh
  • Demand remained high due to cooler temperatures and lower output from small-scale PV
  • Q318 and Q418 contract prices decreased for all states except SA where there was a small increase in Q318 and no change for Q418
  • CAL19 prices softened for NSW and QLD remained steady for VIC and increased for SA
  • Overall good availability of generation in the NEM with additional solar farms starting in QLD
