Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 18 May 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 18 May 2018:

 

  • Spot prices were higher in all NEM regions with SA recording the highest average price of $104.84/MWh
  • Demand increased in NSW, VIC and SA largely driven by cooler temperatures
  • On average NSW imported energy from VIC and QLD
  • Q318 and Q418 contract prices across all NEM regions generally increased in price
  • CAL19 prices softened for NSW and QLD and increased for SA and VIC
  • Pelican point power station in SA remains offline reducing baseload generation in SA
