Electricity Market Prices – Week ending 4 May 2018

Key electricity market observations for the week ending 4 May 2018:

 

  • QLD spot prices declined to average $59.44/MWh
  • NSW spot prices declined to $64.32/MWh. Lower prices were helped by the return of 600 MW unit at Vales Point baseload power station
  • Changes in forward prices for NSW and QLD were modest
  • VIC spot prices were relatively low averaging $64.18/MWh
  • SA average spot price was significantly below the previous week when there were large price spikes
